"Once you have wrestled everything else in life is easy." -Dan Gable

My philosophy as a head coach is to develop young athletes into successful individuals.  Wrestling is not a sport it is a way of life.  I try to promote a Montville family not just a wrestling team.  Having past graduates come back to 'the room' to help is part of this family philosophy and it has helped our program tremendously.

Some Past memories of coaching...State sectionals '01, top 5 in mct '01, ugly list, 12 days of wrestling, bowling (i still own them all), AC all the way, who's that girl coach Smith?, Districts at the house, your mom's a yeti/ears battle still going on, the exit door in the old room, the barn, jb-bk work out

Marcus Ivy

"This I say - be the best, be yourself and not like the rest. Work real hard to be real tough, and remember that 100 percent is not good enough. Set the impossible as being your goal, then reach deep inside from within your soul. All you've got is all you could ask, to give you all to achieve this impossible task. " -Gene Mills

Billy Templeton

"The harder you work, the luckier you get."
